    Ivy Chenghui Li, MHC-LP

    She/Her/Hers

Ivy believes that struggles and pain on an individual level often have a systemic root. She understands that systematic barriers and societal norms usually underlie our struggles and shape our values about what is normal and what is desirable. By acknowledging and working through these barriers, Ivy creates an open and empowering space for clients to explore and embrace their authenticity. This philosophy highlights her strength-based and trauma-informed approach to therapy. In therapy, Ivy works with cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic modalities, creatively integrated with arts therapies and narrative therapy. She meets clients where they are and engages clients beyond therapeutic techniques with her genuine curiosity to develop their unique therapeutic relationship.

Ivy received her Ed.M in Mental Health Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University and her BA in Psychology and Sociology from Mount Holyoke College. She completed her graduate internship at Hamilton-Madison House, where she worked with a diverse population of age and culture with a variety of mental health struggles in the lower east side. Community was a central word throughout Ivy’s experiences before pursuing her graduate degree. She has worked as a community advisor in college and had 2 years of experiences in providing psychoeducation through podcast, workshops, and group counseling in a mental health NGO to advocate for those who struggle with mental health issues and their caregivers. As a Chinese international student and a Mandarin Chinese bilingual therapist, Ivy is passionate in working with people who are navigating the intricate web of personal, cultural, and systematic stress. She hopes to support clients to explore their roles and goals to become more fully of who they are.
