    Mariam aims to build a safe and trustworthy alliance with clients as they embark on their journey of healing. She strives to create a space where clients feel heard, celebrated, and respected. Working collaboratively with clients, she explores their personal experiences while integrating cultural nuances into the therapeutic process. As a therapist, Mariam's approach is grounded in respect for individual narratives, promoting empowerment, and addressing the intersectional facets of identity for a more holistic healing journey. She serves to provide support and compassion to those in need or seeking a comforting space for self-exploration.

    Mariam is a Pakistani Muslim from New York City on the path of filling the gaps of underrepresentation within the mental health field. She approaches therapy in a person-centered, empathetic, integrative approach with the respects of decolonization and multicultural frameworks. She utilizes CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Mindfulness, Psychodynamic Therapy in her work. She is an intern at Wove Therapy while completing her MA in Mental Health Counseling at Baruch College in Manhattan, New York. She also completed her BA in Psychology at Baruch. She has experience counseling young women of color high school students all around the US in college applications, readiness, and financial literacy. Working for BIPOC communities is a focal goal of her professional career. She believes therapy can be a powerful mechanism for BIPOC communities to embody their identity and history to become an authentic and empowered version of themselves.
