Susana is a first-generation American who lived her early childhood in Mexico. She has a deep understanding of the importance of embracing culture and tradition in the therapy setting in order to genuinely support her clients. She values the importance of community and gravitates towards a collaborative approach in order to tailor treatment based on the client’s needs. She is client-centered and strives to create a safe space for each client. She also incorporates other techniques such as CBT, trauma informed care, and motivational interviewing.
Susana received her MA in Mental Health Counseling from Brooklyn College and her BA in Psychology at Brooklyn College as well. She completed her graduate internship at Bridging Access to Care, where she assisted the substance abuse clinic and the mental health clinic in providing bilingual mental health services to clients from different walks of life. Her background includes working with court mandated clients and clients suffering from chronic mental illnesses.
