Through his own intersecting identities as an African American male from an under resourced community, Turhan understands the intricacies and challenges of intersectional identities. Human rights and social justice advocacy are inherent to his therapeutic identity. Turhan is dedicated to creating a safe space and non-judgmental environment to help individuals address their needs. His approaches consist of Person-Centered Therapy, CBT, and Trauma-Focused Therapy.
Turhan received his BA in Criminal Justice from Monroe College and his MA in Counseling from Mercy College. His experience comes from a multitude of settings that include assertive community treatment, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, private practice, and group home settings. He has worked closely with individuals who suffer from severe mental illness, personality disorders, dual diagnosis, and developmental disabilities. Turhan believes he can help the world move forward, one therapy session at a time.
