she/her/hers/they
Michele believes that therapy serves as a valuable tool for unraveling patterns that may have been effective in the past but are no longer serving us. Michele is dedicated to helping individuals comprehend deeply rooted traumas that may manifest in unwanted ways in their lives. Moreover, she views therapy as a means to expand confidence, self-belief and even community.
Michele is dedicated to avoiding isolated perspectives, recognizing the multidimensional nature of each individual. She is committed to understanding people in their entirety, acknowledging the complexity that defines us all. Michele primarily practices with a psychoanalytic, relational and intersectional therapeutic lens, but has an eclectic approach depending on what the client is navigating.
Michele is a therapist hailing from Queens, NY, with a bicultural background of Italian and Puerto Rican descent. Having navigated the nuances of having an identity that is simultaneously commonly represented and marginalized, Michele has understood and witnessed firsthand a lot of the confusion and unique aggressions and microaggressions individuals face that are multicultural, bicultural and biracial. Michele is a first generation college graduate, the first in her family to get a bachelor's degree. These experiences lend her empathy for individuals that navigate unwelcoming systems, or who struggle with their identity or self esteem.
Michele is devoted to addressing a diverse range of mental health issues, including systemic challenges such as racial and socioeconomic trauma. Her experience spans working with clients of all genders, including cisgender, transgender, genderfluid, and nonbinary individuals. Michele received her masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Baruch College and their BA in Psychology at Binghamton University. Michele brings insights from her previous role at the Depression Evaluation Service at Columbia Medical Center, where she observed and conducted psychological intakes and evaluations. Additionally, her work with underserved youth in the Bronx as a coach at the Bronx Youth Center has equipped her with a nuanced understanding of working with marginalized clients.
