Samantha Cheng, MHC-LP

Samantha is a first-generation Taiwanese American who has lived in Taiwan, Shanghai, and Canada. Her experiences of living in different countries have shaped her understanding of how society and culture create our unique subjective realities. Samantha aims to create a warm and collaborative therapeutic environment for her clients to feel safe and empowered in. She believes in using holistic therapeutic approaches in order to adjust to each individual client's needs. Samantha's clinical interests include anxiety, trauma, interpersonal relationships, and Asian American mental health.
Samantha received her BA in Psychology from Wesleyan University and her MA and Ed.M. in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University. She completed her graduate internship at Hamilton-Madison House, where she worked with clients of diverse backgrounds who had a variety of different mental health struggles. Prior to her work in counseling, Samantha had studied psychopathology, neuroscience, and developmental psychology as a researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
